Meretamon has her arms crossed right over left on the chest with her hands protruding from the wrappings. Each hand holds a hoe; a seed bag is carried on her back. Her round face is framed by a smooth tripartite wig. Big round eyes with arched eyebrows, and a tied headband, are outlined in black. A short vertical hieroglyphic inscription painted on her legs, gives the name of the deceased: ‘Osiris Meretamon, justified’.

Meretamon, “beloved of Amon”, is daughter of Menkhepere and Isetemkhebit, half-sister of Pinedjem II. According to Aston her burial dates to 990-970 BC.

A museum’s collection number 16.383 is painted on the back.
